PORT Stephens Council will lay baits in bush areas over the next two months in a campaign against feral animals.

Baits laced with the poison 1080 will be laid in national parks, state forests and on Crown, defence and Hunter Water properties.

Council environment services manager Bruce Petersen said signs would identify land where the baits were laid and adjoining landowners would be notified.
